Italian Greyhounds Available For Adoption

Please note: There are dogs in rescue that are not shown on this site. Most dogs that come into the program are placed in approved homes without ever getting pictured here. If you are interested in a rescue dog, you should put in an application with your local rep and then follow up with him/her. You must complete this application prior to any contact with the rescue reps. Please do not waste your time e-mailing or calling if you have not filled out this application as we need it for reference when speaking with you. Filling it out will give you an opportunity to hear about dogs before they are even featured here.

NOTE ON HOUSEBREAKING: When we say an IG is "housetrained" or doing well that means we have babygates, use a crate, often don't have carpet and manage 24/7..please read about the breed. Housetraining is the #1 problem!

SIMON

Simon is a 5 year old male Italian Greyhound who weighs about 10 pounds. He does great with other dogs. His housetraining and crate training are excellent. He is very calm and laid back for an Italian Greyhound. His ideal home would be one where he can sit on someone's lap a LOT. It's his favorite thing to do. He also likes to go for car rides, play with the other dogs or just be with his person. Simon is located in Indiana, and will be adopted in-state or to a neighboring state ONLY. For more info on Simon, email topironhorse2000@hotmail.com

TESSA

Tessa is a 2 year old fawn and white female. She was saved from a life of being a puppy mill mom. She is approximately 19in tall and weighs about 15 lbs. She is very loving and very affectionate. Despite where she came from she is adapting very well to her new foster home. Tessa is great with other IG's and loves to play and run around with them. She is doing well with potty training and still needs a bit of work. At this time she does not understand stairs but is working on it along with navigating wood floors. She crates well at night and likes car rides. Walking with a leash is a work in progress. Tessa will do best in an environment without small children. Tessa is fostering in the Chicago area. To apply to adopt please email igcitng@sbcglobal.net

CALEB

Caleb is approximately 6 years old, he is white with black markings. He was rescued from a puppy mill. Caleb is about 15 lbs and is very sturdy. He is doing very well in his foster home. Caleb is great with other dogs, once let off a lead he will run and play with them. His potty habits are very good if kept on a schedule. Caleb also crates very well both during the day and at night. When someone is home he enjoys sitting on the couch or in his crate with the door open. He is working very hard on learning to walk on a leash, he is still a bit timid with them. Caleb will do best with a fenced yard. He is being fostered in the Chicago-land area and will be adopted out to neighboring states. For more information please email igcitng@sbcglobal.net

BECKHAM

Beckham is a 6 year old male IG. Overall he is a mid to low energy Iggy. He loves people and likes stuffies - whether they squeak or not and he will bury a bone in his blanket. He is OK with other dogs but gets a bit overwhelmed by over active play or big dogs so possibly not a good dog park candidate. He would be fine as an only dog. People really, really are his favorite. He is OK with cats. Beckham sleeps through the night. Like any good Iggy, he likes to be covered when he naps. He can be a little shy with brand new situations but he recovers quickly. Potty habits are normal IG habits - he is OK with consistant monitoring and is crate trained and pee pad trained. Beckham's idea of a great day is hanging out with his people, finding a nice spot to sit in the sun and watch out the window, and having a stuffie or two nearby. We're working on basic commands - he knows sit and we are working on others. Fortunately he can be sweet talked into doing what you want him to do. All in all, he is a very nice boy. Quite outgoing and very people oriented. Beckham will make someone a loving, devoted companion. Beckham is being fostered in the Chicago area and will be adopted in-state or to a neighboring state.
